Standing at the edge of the pool, or before the easel, or in front of an expectant audience I often feel the urge to bolt. Wouldn’t it be easier not to dive in, not to mark the canvas, not to voice my message?
But the call to expand lures me to lean in and take one step. Just one. And I find myself in new creative territory with new possible next steps. Creative expansion happens.
Like an accordion moving in and out, we experience both contraction and extension in the creative journey, but I believe it can all be in the spirit positive development.
With each brave step taken in the direction of the heart’s desire, each step across a threshold from fear to possibility, each step toward something brighter results in growth.
