When I bought my house over two decades ago, I imagined hanging out on my porches. One in front, one in back, I set them up with sweet seating and conversation. It really hasn’t been until this year that I have successfully sat down.
Like many of us, I tend to be on the move in my house. There’s always something to do, fix, clean or make. But I’m learning. It takes conscious effort, conscious choice on my part to sit down and relax.
Breakfast on the back porch this summer has done the trick. Instead of sitting in the dining room to read the latest mail, plopping on the couch in front of my computer, or worst of all, standing in the kitchen to eat, I have been sitting down. Just sitting. Just enjoying my oatmeal. Just sipping tea on my back porch… at least for a few minutes.
Sitting down to pause is one way to spirit out.
Where is one of your favorite spots to slow down and savor the sweetness? May you find one each day.
